Tiffany's 5-Star Review
"No one’s life ends up exactly the way they thought it would. But I feel like mine should at least attempt to resemble something similar to my thoughts. To my hopes and dreams."
Such a great story! For it being Eliza's first book, it made me feel as if she'd been writing for years!
This book grabbed my attention from the start! The character of Chelsea can be relatable to so many women. Falling in love at a young age, getting married, and then realizing that maybe the boy you were so head over heels for isn't who you thought he was.
One Chance Night isn't a story of love--it's a story of discovery.
Chelsea has spent too many years living for someone else. It's her time to finally shine.
"What I need is a plan. Preferably one that doesn’t include another diet or a loveless marriage."
With her happiness seemingly so far out of reach, Chelsea takes her co-worker's invite to get out of the house one night. Little did she know that Stevie and her friend, Mayra, were about to change her outlook about everything without even knowing. This was going to be a night to remember--a night of freedom.
I honestly can say that I was holding my breathe the entire time Chelsea was in that bar. I wanted to know what was going to happen! It's like I couldn't turn the pages quick enough!!!
All it took was the mention of a man with a guitar and I knew this story would get me hook, line and sinker! Did I mention he played country music? Yeah buddy.
Brett. He was swoonworthy from the start, but he was also much more. You could tell he was about to change the course of this story in many ways. It's like he "got" Chelsea even before he really talked to her. With just his words, compassion, and a guitar, he made her feel things she had never felt in her marriage.
"Brett’s smile simultaneously threatens to put me at ease and blast my nervousness into overdrive. My heart and brain just can’t decide which way to go."
Please do not think this story has anything to do with cheating. It has nothing of the sort! It's about realizing when enough is enough, and there are better things out in the world beyond the work and home you seem confined to.
"With the way I’ve been treated for the past four years, I have come to assume that I’m not worth being treated like I mean anything. I’ve so wholly lost my self-importance, my significance. And I haven’t known Brett for longer than two hours, but he’s already pointing me in the direction of my value. He’s reminded me in the space of kindness that I’m deserving of love."
One night. That's all it takes sometimes. One night. One step forward. One change of mind. One chance encounter.
"This night is ending up a lot differently than I imagined it would—and it’s certainly turning out to be worth whatever happens next."
I loved every character (well, except for Wesley. He can go away! Hehe). The friendships are amazing and the bonds made will stay forever.
Eliza Boyd tells an empowering story about what it truly means to take control of your life and that some chances are worth taking. This book is not to be missed!
