Interview with Monica Murphy
Mickey: Hello, Monica Murphy! Thanks so much for being here today. Please introduce yourself.
Monica: Hi Mickey and thank you so much for having me here today! Well, my name is Monica. I write new adult contemporary romance for Bantam and I write contemporary romance for Avon. I'm a mom of three and a wife of one and I live in central California, not too far from the gates of Yosemite.
Mickey: Your new novel, Torn, just came out. Tell us about it and how you came to write it.
Monica: TORN is the second book in my Billionaire Bachelors Club series at Avon. The books focus on three best friends who make a very high stakes bet that they will never get tied down to one woman. I of course as the writer, make every single one of them fall and fall hard. I wrote the series because Avon put out a submission call for billionaires. I submitted a proposal and my editor was like, what if there's a bet….and the rest is history.
Mickey: If you could be any of your characters in any of your books, who would you choose?
Monica: Oooh, tough question. Right now I'm still a little in love with Owen, Fable's younger brother from my One Week Girlfriend series so I think I'd be Chelsea, Owen's love interest in Four Years Later. Lucky Chelsea. ;)
Mickey: You write also under another name. How did that choice come about?
Monica: I've written as Karen Erickson for years (I've been published since 2006). When I came up with the idea for One Week Girlfriend, it was so completely different from my Karen stuff, I decided to write under another name so I wouldn't confuse readers. Trust me, it's hard managing two pen names! I refer to Monica and Karen like they're two separate people a lot of the time.
Mickey: Do you have any plans for audio books? If you could choose the narrator for your books, who would it be?
Monica: Well, both of my series are in audio! The Billionaire Bachelors Club series comes out in Dec. I think - the first two, with the third releasing the same day the third book SAVOR releases (1/21).
Mickey: Do you prefer to read ebooks or physical copies?
Monica: I've gone pretty much strictly digital. It's so much easier to have them all on my Kindle and I can order them whenever I want. It's downright dangers. My TBR pile on my Kindle is scary.
Mickey: What's your editing process like?
Monica: I'm a fairly clean writer. I tend to edit as I go. When I resume writing for the day, I'll go back over what I wrote the day before and re-read, add to it, clean it up, etc. It's a fairly simple process. Usually.
Mickey: Non-book question - What's your favorite fruit or vegetable?
Monica: Strawberries and asparagus. Not together though. That would be disgusting.
Mickey: Thanks for being on the blog, Monica! Any parting words?
Monica: Thanks so much for having me Mickey! I appreciate it. I hope if everyone gets a chance that they check out TORN.
