15-Day Book Blogger Challege: Day 1 - Confessions

Hey all! It's been a while since I've posted anything personal. Reviews, discussion, etc, have really taken a back seat since I started editing. Luckily I was on Twitter at the right time the other day and saw Christina @ A Reader of Fictions talking about this 15-day book blogger challenge. So every Friday for the next 15 Fridays, we'll be posting for this challenge. I hope you'll join us!

15 Bookish Confessions
  1. I have been unable to manage my time enough to read books lately. I've been all business. Audio books are as close as I come, and I have even been neglecting those a well. It's sad.
  2. I can't remember the last time I was at the library right now. My library cards are either expired or about to expire. Sad day.
  3. My Kindle has probably been dead for at least a month now. It's charging, so that's good news.
  4. I didn't actually read Moby Dick for my English class, but our group got a really great grade on our final paper for it. Thank you, interwebs.
  5. If you don't already know, I edit novels. I'm a freelance copy editor. Feel free to hire me!
  6. I don't judge if you don't read or if you haven't read "the classics." I haven't read them all either so it's no big deal.
  7. My memory sucks, so after a year, I could likely reread a book with it being like I'd never read it before. Sad but true.
  8. I prefer to read the book before I see the movie. But sometimes that doesn't happen.
  9. I got my friends at work listening to audio books. One of the favorites is Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series.
  10. Sometimes I feel like I AM the characters in the books. The emotion stay with me, and I often take them out on my husband. Hahaha.
  11. Staying up late does not happen, so I'm not usually one to stay up all night, even if a book is really good.
  12. I love a good series. And I like to wait until the whole thing is out before I start because I don't like to wait. And if you go back to #7, you'll find another reason.
  13. I really enjoy audio books. And I'll listen to audio books read by my favorite narrators just because they read them. Think Lorelei King, Tavia Gilbert, Johanna Parker, and Phil Gigante.
  14. I finished the Sookie Stackhouse series and was seriously disappointed by the ending. I liked the result, but the end was rushed and cheap. Bah.
  15. When anyone asks, I usually say that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book. I only say that because I remember two scenes I absolutely love.

  1. 1. No reading is sad times. :(

    4. Ha, I remember I got over a hundred on my Frankenstein test and I totally skimmed/skipped like half of it.

    7. I can do the same thing. I'll be like "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED" and people are all "didn't you read that before?" and I'm like "shut it!"

    10. Your husband must discourage the reading of books about infidelity and encourage the reading of swoony books. lol.

    11. Me too. It's a sign of getting old. *shudders* Sleep is just so important.

    13. I mostly like British audiobook narrators.

    15. Bahahaha, P&P is wondrous. I have two scenes I love that aren't in the movies, and so many more besides.

    1. 1. I know! I read, but only the books I edit really.

      4. Right?! Good grief.

      7. Isn't that crazy!? I'm glad I'm not the only one, except not really.. lol. It's sad.

      10. Yeah, those feelings stick too sometimes. ;o)

      11. Sleep IS important. It comes first.

      13. I listen to those sometimes too. ;o)

      15. We'll have to share!!

  2. #1. I've never "read" an audio book! I have friends who swear by them, but the idea is so weird to me. I've been trying to work out more, though, and I think I may buy my first as a way to keep me off obsessively timing myself on the machines.

#2. I haven't used my card in 10+ years! I love libraries... I just like to own what I read.

#4. You missed nothing. I swear. I count that as one of the biggest reading wastes of time EVER.

#7. That is probably annoying for you, but you could reread all your favorites and it would be like the first time!

#8. Yes! This is why I have bought books like Cloud Atlas. I really want to see the movie but the book is hard to get into. And now I can't watch the movie!

#10. GUILTY. I have done this to my poor boyfriend so much that he now knows to ask "is this from [last book read] or are you really mad at me?"

#14. I was so disappointed in the second to last, I haven't even read the last one. Good to know I am not missing much!

    1. 1. You should try one!! It'll definitely help with that. Takes your mind off it.

      2. I have not been to a library in a while so I haven't needed it. I went mostly for audio books! ;o)

      4. Oh good. I'm glad. I didn't really care for it much. It was actually humorous at first, but I got tired of it really quickly.

      7. True!! Which is kind of why I don't care. Haha.

      8. I know, it's hard. Sometimes I can't decide. Or I see a movie and realize later it was made from a book. Boo. Haha.

      10. RIGHT?! My husband doesn't always put it together, but I do. And then I apologize. Hahaha.

      14. It's so rushed and adflskjdfu ughhh. I was pretty disappointed too. If you read it, let me know.

  3. Totally with you for number 7. I pick up books I reviewed a year ago and I have absolutely no idea what they are about.

  4. #15. HEHE. I loved that one and I've been wanting to re-read but I'm scared I won't like it this time.

I am happy you're doing this. I think I may at some point and stagger it out over a month or so so it's not all at once. Can't wait to see the rest of your answers, chickie!

  5. Bummer you haven't had much time to read lately, but I LOVE that you love audiobooks so much. I listen to them while following along in print (weird, I know) and I listen to them as much lately as I read "real" books because I'm so busy around the house. PLUS I like to drown out the day-to-day noises of all of the kids and our pets, etc. One noise in my ear is better than several. (:

    1. I hear you! Audio book are the bomb. I used to listen while I followed along, mostly for school readings, but now I listen in the car and at work when I get a chance. Love it!
