And forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she is Whitney Vandaveer, and despite the fact that she has moved to the middle of nowhere—she can't.

He's always known he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett has accepted the fact that he will always be the screw up, and he is okay with it. Until he meets her.

Here's the thing they quickly find out—sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

Interview with Elizabeth Lee

Mickey: Hey, Elizabeth Lee! Thanks for being on the blog today! Please introduce yourself.
Elizabeth: Hey readers! It's me, Elizabeth--small town girl turned author. :-) Thanks for having me, Mickey!

Mickey: Tell us a little bit about Escaping Me. Is it connected to your other books at all?
Elizabeth: This one isn't related to my previous novels, Shattered or Give Me Something. Although, you know I love a good small town romance, so that's in there. EM begins with the MC, Whitney, running away from a bad break up. She moved in with her mother and sister at their country home. While trying to forget about her ex, she meets Cole Pritchett, backwoods boy with a big chip on his shoulder. It's a star-crossed lovers kind of vibe, minus the tragic ending. I'm an HEAer all the way. :-)

Mickey: I'm a sucker for love stories. Where did you get the idea for this novel?
Elizabeth: I have a lot of imaginary friends! Haha! And I'm a big country music fan, so I a lot of times I hear a song and a story line will start to unfold from there. This one is the product of few "inspiring" songs. I believe my playlist will be posted later this week on the Blog Tour!

Mickey: Whitney and Cole are great characters! How do you name the people in your stories?
Elizabeth: Well, if you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that my pal, Hootie, and I are big Whitney Houston fans. (Hey, Hootie! *waves*) So, Whitney is an homage, plus I think it's just a really pretty name. Cole... well, I just thought that sounded like a hot name for hot guy. :-) I keep a list of names I come across for future work.

Mickey: This one is a little different for you. It's in present tense. Why the change?
Elizabeth: If you read my previous work, you may have noticed I'm usually a past tense writer. When I'm working, I start telling a story as if the character is telling it to me. For this one, I went with present tense after it was suggested by a very smart person (you know who you are) and discussing with my fab editor! I really love the way it turned out! I'll being doing a lot more writing this way. I think it makes the readers feel like they are watching the story unfold and adds to the drama and tension between the characters.

Mickey: You love your crossovers! Do you have any plans for the characters of Escaping Me in other books?
Elizabeth: Oh, you know I do! EM is actually the first in a series for these characters. The next one, Finding You, will follow Whitney's little sister, Mallory. But don't worry, Cole & Whit are for sure making their presence known.

Mickey: Do you put any of yourself into the books you write?
Elizabeth: Always. It's hard not to. Even if it's just a line of dialogue or the descriptions of an outfit a character wears. I'm in there.

Mickey: What's your current favorite summer song right now?
Elizabeth: I'm loving... That's How She Rolls by Chase Rice. It's definitely helping me shape Mallory's character for the next book!

Mickey: I'll have to listen to that one! What's your favorite fruit to eat?
Elizabeth: You're such a fruit pusher. ;-) Cherries!

Mickey: Haha! That I am! ;o) Thanks so much for being here! Any parting words?
Elizabeth: Thanks for having me back! I'll leave readers with my suggestion for reading EM... It works best if enjoyed while front porch swingin' or tailgate sittin' with a Miller Lite in hand!

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it! My first YA/New Adult novel is out now!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny one-year old, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.
