Elizabeth Lee - Give Me Something

Here's the deal... I learned a long time ago that sometimes you have to use what you've got to make things happen. What I happen to have is a pretty smile, long legs and the ability to make men believe anything I say. Before you get on your high horse and start judging me, can you honestly say you've never batted your lashes at some guy for a free drink at the bar? That's what I thought.
Keep that in mind as I tell you my story of how I took it one step further. My story of lies, deceit, manipulation and love. Yeah, love. Believe me, it fits. Especially, when you factor in Nick and Tucker – one had my heart and the other one wanted it all for himself. Which one? Well, I can't tell you that. It would defeat the purpose of the story. If I'm going to fill you in about me, Lila Garrison, and my life as a con artist you're going to need to know all the facts, including the ones about the two guys who made me want to give up the life of fancy clothes, expensive jewelry, fast cars and easy money. Because sometimes, one person can give you something that's more valuable than all of that.
If you're still interested, stick around. Just remember, I'm pretty good at convincing people to do what I want, so if by the end of this whole thing you feel worked over, don't say I didn't warn you.
Mickey: Hi Elizabeth Lee! Welcome to the blog! Please introduce yourself.
Elizabeth: Hi Mickey! Let's see... I'm just a small town girl, living in a lonely world... :-) Not really. I am just a small town girl from the Midwest who decided that she'd put her imaginary friends on paper.
Mickey: So tell me, what's your muse? What inspires you to write these awesome books?!
Elizabeth: That's a hard one! I'm inspired by so many things. I'm going to cop out and say that life is my muse.
Mickey: I've seen you write about playlists for your novels. What music do you listen to while writing? Does it drive your story?
Elizabeth: I love a playlist! Usually, one song will start the ball rolling and then I just add to it as the story goes on. For my first book, Shattered, the song Glass by Thompson Square was it and for Give Me Something it was... wait for it... Give Me Something by James Morrison. I love all genres of music. The playlist for GMS is all over the place. From hip-hop to country to indie rock. It's pretty eclectic.
Mickey: Let's talk about Give Me Something specifically. Which one of your characters would you never want to be friends with and why?
Elizabeth: Nick. He's the guy that Taylor Swift wrote "I Knew You Were Trouble" about. I know if Nick were real, I'd have a hard time staying away from him even though I know he's up to no good.
Mickey: Give Me Something is like a companion novel to your previous book, Shattered. Will your next project be the same way?
Elizabeth: I'm a sucker for crossovers. It started with television. I still remember when Steve Urkel appeared on Full House. Haha! I love the idea of having character from other books show up in my new ones. It's a fun way to let readers know what my characters are up to without having an entire sequel. I already have something in the works with the couple from the hotel elevator in GMS.
Mickey: Have you thought about releasing audio books? If you could pick anyone to narrate the audio books of your novels, who would you choose?
Elizabeth: Morgan Freeman, obviously. Doesn't he have the best voice!? On second thought, he might not be the best choice for the genre I write. I loved Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl. I'd love to hear her read some of my snarkier remarks!
Mickey: Which book by another author do you which you'd written first?
Elizabeth: Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. I adore this book!
Mickey: Thanks for being here! Any final thoughts?
Elizabeth: I just want to say thanks to everyone for their support! I'm so excited that people want to read about my imaginary friends! :-)
Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.
Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it! My first YA/New Adult novel is out now!
If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny one-year old, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.
