My favorite Mythological Creature: Centaurs

Centaurs have always been interesting to me, but when I started the Touched series, I had read almost nothing about them. Other than the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series, I hadn’t seen Centaurs used in a novel, Paranormal or otherwise.

So, I started researching. It turns out, very few others had written about Centaurs as main characters and there were remarkably few legends available to pull from. The Touched Series incorporates much of the known Greek Mythology surrounding Centaurs and I created legends for everything else in the story.

So what legends in Blood Debt were real and which ones were figments of my imagination? Each of the Greek gods referenced came from already written mythology. The pasture of Thessaly, the legend of Chiron, and the father of Centaurs were also elements from Greek Mythology woven into Blood Debt. The idea of owing a blood debt, a matriarchal society, all the powers the Centaurides possess? Yes – those were all figments of my imagination.

So what made me decide to write a series about a Paranormal creature most readers knew little about? I’ve always been intrigued by Greek Mythology and thought others might be, too. There is a lot of freedom as an author to write about little known characters. Another big reason is there are tons of great books in this genre about Vampires, Shape shifters, Angels, Demons, etc – I wanted something fresh for the readers. I hope you enjoy it!

Nancy was born in Sioux City Iowa, left the cold of the Midwest in 1991 and only returns to see family in the summer time. She spent ten years traveling the world as a US Marine and settled in rural SC with her husband and two children.

She enjoyes reading all types of Paranormal and Young Adult literature.
