History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time.
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.
If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
AHHHHHH I love this series!!! And this book did NOT disappoint. Armentrout hit us with another well written novel that served to elicit all kinds of emotions, and I loved being on this roller coaster for the whole ride.
There is plenty of the awesome banter between Alex and Aiden that I enjoy, I still love her snarky attitude, and the one thing I have always enjoyed about Armentrout's writing that stays true for this book is she really makes me feel for the characters. She builds them well, she builds them up, and she knows just where to smash them so that the reader feels their pain too.
In this installment of the series, Alexandria is inching closer to her 18th birthday, the birthday that will force her to go through the Awakening and could bind her to Seth forever. Training with Seth has started throwing up red flags for her, as she's developing marks of the Apollyon that she shouldn't even have, and she suspects Seth is doing it on purpose. She really starts getting glimpses of who Seth truly is, and she finally wises up and tries to back away... but Seth won't let her. That is definitely terrifying to her, and Aiden... and their feelings for each other are as apparent as ever. In fact, this book tips the scale and lets Alex and Aiden FINALLY give in to their feelings... but, just as they decide to make it work however they can... Alex's 18th birthday hits.
Nothing will be the same. Gods once again walk the Earth, and Seth is coming to find her. Unfortunately, there's nowhere Alex can hide now that the link to Seth has been forged, and her Awakening has completed...
Bottom line: SERIOUSLY WHY IS THE NEXT BOOK NOT OUT YET.
