- I do NOT dog ear. Maybe this isn't a true confession, but it's definitely the truth. I don't want to hurt the book! Maybe that's crazy, but I just can't bend pages. I'll use just about anything as a bookmark so there are no dog ears in my books!
- The spines on books shouldn't be broken. Sure, it would look like a well loved book if it's all worn, but I just don't want to break the spines. I don't want any of my books to even look like they've been read! It's sad but true.
- I probably have about $15.00 in library overdue fines. I'm generally okay with library fines because it makes me feel like I'm contributing in a way.. haha.
- I absolutely can't stand Catcher in the Rye! I'm not usually shy about it, but I always feel like I have to tell people this.
- Usually when everyone loves a good, I'm not so gaga over it. See: Such a Rush and Divergent.
- I tend to forget books and plots over time. It can happen really fast, but some books stick with me. Sometimes I can read a book again without even knowing that I've read it. That is good and bad.
- I hate re-reading! I don't want to waste time reading a book after I've already read it and know all its secrets.
- Now that I've said I hate re-reading, I'll confess that I recently re-read Summer Sisters and couldn't effing stand it. Geesh.
- I like nonfiction. This isn't really a huge confession, but I don't think enough people read it. Some of my favorite books this year have been nonfiction!
- I like to read the book first before the movie. And if I see a movie trailer that was a book first, I'll try to read it before I go see the movie if I'm interested.
Those are my confessions! Let me know what yours are! :o)
Book ears are something that really annoy me too. I'd use anything and everything as a bookmark - usually random scraps of paper - but NEVER dogear a page.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand Catcher and the Rye... sometimes I feel like there's something wrong with me because I just don't understand why so many people list it as their favourite book.
Totally agree on 1 & 2 and I'm happy to hear that you like non fiction as much as I do! :-)
ReplyDeleteawesome list!! I love to read a book before the movie too!! And well, I love re-reading :P :P It's like catching up with a friend for me :P :)
ReplyDelete#10 all the way! I actually hate reading a book after I've seen the movie. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI totally forget plots all the time! I tend to not realize if I've read a book before until the end. Sometimes not even then. I just wish I could do that with books I want to read again for the first time :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same for a lot of these BUT esp. Re-reading books, I hate it, but im trying to start doing it, in fact im re-reading Ashfall by Mike Mullin, which was my favorite book of 2011, and also I HAVE to read the book before the movie, otherwise i'll never read the book, and we all know books are usually better then their movie counterparts!!
ReplyDeleteI want books to look like I never read them, too, but it never happens. No matter how much I try not to mess up the pages or break the spine, it always happens, and I've had so many books get destroyed, sometimes in just a first reading. (It's partly related to how clumsy I am.) It's why I LOVE my e-reader. My books never get destroyed! And I don't have to obsessively worry about bookmarks or preserving the pages.
