Top Ten Tuesday - Books I've Never Read

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this feature includes random weekly bookish top tens. This week's list is - top ten books I can't believe I've never read. It's a freebie week, and I haven't done a list like this. At least I don't think so. Anyway, don't expect Fifty Shades of Crap to be on this list. I've never read it, and it's no surprise. Here's the real list, in no particular order..

  1. George Orwell - 1984 / Animal Farm
I just never got around to reading it, but lately I've really wanted to. I think I'll find the audio and listen at work.
  2. W. Paul Young - The Shack
Everywhere I go, someone says something about this book. The Post Office lady just finished it. The cashier at Target loved it. I should probably read it.
  3. John Steinbeck - Of Mice and Men
I didn't have to read this in school, so I just never did. It's a shame because it's a classic. Maybe I'll go audio on this one too?
  4. Dan Brown - The Da Vinci Code
Actually, it's not surprising seeing this is a sequel, but everyone talks this most about this one for some reason. I've heard good things.
  5. Khaled Hosseini - The Kite Runner
This is another one I've heard good things about. I even own a copy. Have I read it? Nooo. :o(
  6. Anne Rice - Interview With the Vampire
Okay, don't get your panties in a bunch. I tried. I really did. I didn't even like the movie. So no. I guess this isn't a "can't believe" one for me. Maybe for you.
  7. JK Rowling - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
I got to book 5 and put it down. I couldn't care less, which is sad. These books just weren't for me, and too much has been spoiled.
  8. Douglas Adams - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I'd like to get the audio on this one too. I don't know why it's taken me so long to read some of these books!
  9. Diana Gabaldon - Outlander
With all the hype I've heard, why have I not read these?! Oh yeah, they're all 1000 pages long or something. My mind can't handle that. But it will. Someday.
  10. Richelle Mead - Vampire Academy
I'm such a big Richelle Mead fan. I loved Georgina like you wouldn't believe. Eugenie not so much. But everyone loves these books! I own the first one. I better get on it. Soon!
What do you think of my list? Any of my books on your list? Which should I start with first? It's time to make the titles on this list disappear from it! And leave a link to your TTT :o)

  1. Well, I've read 1984 a couple of months ago and didn't like it as much as I thought. Too much explanations and less plot, but it's good to know I've read it, you know?
It's been years since I've read The Da Vinci Code but I think it can stand for itself. Anyway, it's a really good book.
Haven't read The Kite Runner (I think I read something else by the same author) but definitely planning to!
Harry Potter. I guess everyone has to read it someday, huh? I personally loved the books. I also can understand you for wanting to complete the series' reading.
And lastly, Vampire Academy. I LOVE this series. So much. Haven't read other Richelle Mead's (though planning to) but VA is awesome. Hope you'll read & enjoy.

    So, You've got a great list! Now start reading(;

  2. Yeah, I've noticed that with the Harry Potter books. People seem to assume that you've read them, so they're all like "OMIGOD... SNAPE..." and then they ruin the ending.

I've not actually read the Vampire Academy series, although many are egging me on. I don't want to get into a series, and then have to read the rest of the series just because I want to know how it ends. The sixth and final book in the VA academy series is a MONSTER.

    Anyway, good list!

  5. This is a great list - loved Outlander by the way :}. I just finished The Rx Factor by J. Thomas Shaw, which is a fast-paced medical thriller that involves espionage and a touch of romance. Couldn't put this one down! http://www.therxfactor.com/

  6. I just finished reading 1984 today...and it was a great dsytopian book but the ending completely bored me.

I'd recommend read Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The movie isn't half bad but its short. Definitely the FUNNIEST book I've ever read.

  7. MICKEY. Girl, you gotta read the Hitchhiker's Guide! All those books are FABULOUSLY hilarious. I adored them.

And I thought you'd read the VA series! *gasps* From what I've seen of Georgina, I think you might like Rose!

  8. I can't believe you've never finished Harry Potter!! That's crazy! And definitely jump on the VA bandwagon - I got really into it and read them (and the Bloodlines books) in a week.

On the other hand, I would say avoid 1984 like the plague. I'm supposed to be reading it for school now, but for the life of me I can't get past like chapter 2. I think one person in our entire class actually managed to finish it and everyone else just went for the cliff notes. I know it's supposed to be a "classic" and all that but it's just sooooo boring. You're really not missing out on much.
