TGIF - Comfort Reads

Hosted by Ginger over at G-Reads, TGIF is a way to recap the week on your blog and answer a fun question she asks bloggers. Linking up spreads the word, so visit her blog for more info and to participate! :o) Here's the question for this week:

Comfort Reads: Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity? Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

I go to Nicholas Sparks books when I need comfort most of the time. I've read all of his stuff, so I'm familiar with how his stories go. They shouldn't comfort because they are mostly sad. But they still take me to another place when I don't want to live inside my head.

I also won't lie - Twilight provides some familiarity to me. I really LIVED in those books when I was reading them. They're not my favorite books ever, but they got me reading like a crazy person. I haven't stopped since. So since I have Twilight to thank for my reading habits, I always can go back to Twilight for some comfort and familiarity.

However, Richelle Mead's Succubus series is something I could read over and over again probably. I haven't tried because I have so much more to read right now, but if I ever take a break, I'd go back to those. I can pull one from my shelf and read the last chapter just to reminisce. Love doing that <3

  1. OOh I do love Richelle Mead's books!!

I only ever read one Sparks book and that was over 10 years ago when I didn't have enough paranormal books to read--weird to think there was such a time!--and that book was A Walk to Remember. I remembered reading it before the movie came out and it even has the original--or before the movie version--cover on it! Still have it somewhere too... :)

  2. I love your answer. While I don't like the Twilight series anymore, I think if I read the books, they'd comfort me anyway. (Or make me feel irritated at myself lol)

  4. I actually totally get what you're trying to say about Nicholas Sparks - I reread his books all the time, even though they tend to end sadly or bittersweetly. I think it's the romance aspect that appeals to me!
