TGIF - Issue Books

Hosted by Ginger over at G-Reads, TGIF is a way to recap the week on your blog and answer a fun question she asks bloggers. Linking up spreads the word, so visit her blog for more info and to participate! :o) Here's the question for this week:

Issue Books: Which books have you found to be very rewarding when it comes to tackling tougher issues?

Ellen Hopkins writes some awesome YA lit that tackle drugs, sex, and violence. Her novels expose some truths and allow young readers to see what it's really like to be on that side of life. Crank, Triangles, Glass, and Burned are just some examples of her tough topic work.

I also think that Jodi Picoult writes about some pretty tough, taboo topics! She writes adult literature, but her novels usually deal with a touchy subject that lands her characters in a court battle that can go either way. One of my favorites is Sing You Home. A couple splits and can't legally figure out who should take their frozen embryos in the aftermath. Very interesting stuff!
