Halifax, 1876. On the death of her mother and sister, Isabelle Gibson is left to fend for herself and her brother in a privately-run workhouse. After the matron's son attempts to rape her, Isabelle decides to escape him and a life of drudgery by agreeing to marry a moorland farmer she has never met. But this man, Farrell, is a drunkard and a bully in constant feud with his landlord, Ethan Harrington. When Farrell bungles a robbery and deserts her, Isabelle and Ethan are thrown together as she struggles to save the farm. Both are married and must hide their growing love. But despite the secrecy, Isabelle draws strength from Ethan as faces from the past return to haunt her and a tragedy is set to strike that will change all of their lives forever.

Mickey: Hi Anne Brear! Welcome to the blog! Please introduce yourself :o)
Anne:  Hello. I’ve been a life-long reader and started writing in 1997 when my children were small. I’ve a love of history, of grand old English houses and a fascination of what might have happened beyond their walls. My interests include reading, genealogy, watching movies, spending time with family and eating chocolate - not always in that order!

Mickey: Tell us about your newest novel, The Gentle Wind's Caress.
Anne: Here’s the blurb: Halifax, 1876.

Mickey: Your preferred genre to write seems to be historical fiction. What genre do you like to read the most?
Anne: I read a wide variety of genres now. I particularly enjoy medieval fiction and chick lit, plus biographies and of course non fiction research books.

Mickey: You also write under the name Anne Whitfield. How do you keep the two separate?
Anne: I used to write all my books under that previous name, but now I write all my books under my name of Anne Brear. So all the new releases will be Anne Brear.

Mickey: Do you complete a lot of research when writing historical fiction? What's your favorite time and place in history to write about?
Anne: I prefer to write Victorian and Edwardian eras, I have written one story in WWII, which I enjoyed doing. I think my favourite period now is the Edwardian and WWI in Britain.

Mickey: What do you like to do in your spare time that doesn't involve reading or writing?
Anne: When I have spare time I like to spend it relaxing with my family and friends. I also enjoy watching movies, going on picnics, that sort of thing.

Mickey: What do you think about audio books? If you could pick anyone in the world to narrate The Gentle Wind's Caress, who would you choose?
Anne: I think audio books are an excellent alternative for readers to experience. I am fortunate enough to have one of my books, Woodland Daughter, available in audio and the wonderful Anne Dover is reading it and does a superb job at it.

Mickey: What idea/book do you wish you'd thought of/written first?
Anne: Oh wouldn’t we all like to be in JK Rowling’s shoes right now? LOL

Mickey: Finally, what's your favorite dessert?
Anne: Now desserts are one of my weaknesses! So I can safely say anything that is sweet. I recently had some very nice Tiramisu and lemon gelato at an Italian restaurant, and it was wonderful.

Mickey: Thanks so much for being here today! Any parting words?
Anne: Readers can learn more about my books on my blog. Thank you for having me as a guest on your blog, Mickey.

I was born a small town in N.S.W. Australia, to English parents, Ken and Betty. I am the youngest of five children. As a child I loved reading and listening to music, my favourite being ABBA, though I grew up liking a great variety of music.  My brother Michael and I listened to all types of music, mainly driving in his car with the stereo blasting. One minute we would have country singer, Kenny Rogers on, then the next it would be rock, like AC-DC or Meatloaf. That variety of music stays with me and my cd collection is of a wide range in type. I have a wide variety of interests. I enjoy reading and gardening. I am interested in genealogy, I love chocolate. (who doesn't?) I love cooking, surfing the web and emailing friends.
