TGIF and Week In Review (43)

Hosted by Ginger over at G-Reads, TGIF is a way to recap the week on your blog and answer a fun question she asks bloggers. Linking up spreads the word, so visit her blog for more info and to participate! :o) Here's the question for this week:

A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?

I had a lot of help when it came to the decision of making a book blog. Josh (the fiancé) told me that I should look into getting paid for all the reviews I was writing. Thinking that would never happen for a whole lot of reasons (I have no degree, they're more emotion than technical, etc.), I Googled it anyway. Lots of these blogs came up, and I had no clue that people even did this! The first one I really remember is Anna Reads. I looked at it like, "Wow, could I do something like this?" It seemed like the perfect way for me to talk books on my own terms.

After looking into it some more, I found that people interacted with authors and publishers on a regular basis. NO WAY, right?! Yeah way. So I jumped in with both feet and went for it! I found a cool blog design, made a button, got a new email account, created a new Twitter and Facebook page, and set up my Blogger account. It all happened so fast, and I can't believe it's been a year!! I've made some really great friends and contacts while doing this. It's been truly amazing :o)

  1. Way back then, I also didn't know there is something called "book blog." It never occurred to me until I found one.
Getting paid for reviews, yes having no degree in literature would be a disadvantage for applying. But I have read some articles that magazines, newspapers allow trials and if they liked your reviews then they may hire you. :)
