There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
So yeah, you should probably read this one. And by probably, I mean definitely.
If you enjoyed Half-Blood, you should definitely sink your teeth into Pure! It's heartbreaking, humorous, and action-packed. As a reader, you never quite know where Armentrout is going to take the story. You're always guessing, and I certainly didn't guess what happens in Pure. Wow!
There's quite a bit of Seth and Aiden. That's ALWAYS a good thing. (I'm team Aiden if you're wondering.) Alex has quite a tough road ahead of her if she can end up with Aiden. He's a pure and she's a half. In their world, a relationship between a pure and half is forbidden. But then there is Seth. He's a half and also the Apollyon, which is what Alex will Awaken to when she's 18. Sounds perfect, but Seth is a bit of a player. He cares only about himself, and Alex just can't see past that, until.. I'll leave it at that.
Daimons get into the school and start killing. Alex wants to get to the bottom of this, including the plan her mother told her about. She has to go to the Council to explain her side of the story, and servitude is threatened. Even some magical elements take place in order to ensure Alex's deathly fate. It gets a little intense!
Pure is a great addition to this series. Readers will enjoy the banter between Alex and her suitors. Alex is always very witty and funny, especially when she's trying to be tough and brave. A lot happens to her in this novel, so her journey is helping her grow. Hopefully in the next novel she will figure out more about her life, her past, and her future! Can't wait!!
Bottom Line: Absolutely read this series! It's entertaining and swoon-worthy!
I've not read any books by Armentrout but I heard nothing but good things about her stuff. I'm definitely going to have to start picking up her books and giving them a read.
