Bookish Trends: What are some bookish trends you are noticing in the literature world today? Is there a particular trend you'd like to see more of?
I've noticed a lot more paranormal books these days. That's pretty obvious. We're all vampire crazed these days, but it's even more than that now. Mermaids, were-anything, faeries, telepaths, super powers.. doesn't matter. We will apparently read anything these days. I'm enjoying the 'anything goes' feel of literature, but none of these have the classic feel anymore. Some of the writing is sub-par, which is sad. But that's what happens when we text in shorthand..
I've also noticed that there are hardly anymore standalone novels. Everything has a sequel or five, maybe a companion book. Rare is it for a book to stand on its own. It's good and bad I guess. Series books can drag out forever, but sometimes I like that. If I like a set of characters, I don't ever want it to end. It's a toss up.
What have you noticed trending in literature? Hope you have a great weekend!
I agree with you about stand alones and series! Sometimes I do tire of a series, but I still go back to it! I've read only a few standalones lately and even then I still want more. I think trilogies are a nice way to go at times too! Really it all comes down to the writing and how much I'm enjoying it!
