Top Ten Tuesday - Book Theme Songs

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this feature includes random weekly bookish top tens. This week's list is -top ten books I'd give a theme song to and why. I've thought long and hard about this list, and this is what I've come up with (along with some help from some great people). Please check it out and let me know what you think!!

  1. Cecelia Ahern - P.S. I Love You
    Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
This song screams sadness in the aftermath of a love that went wrong, no matter how it went wrong. Death is the case for P.S., I Love You, and it's just heart-wrenching. Ouch.
  2. Jennifer E. Smith - The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
    Rihanna - We Found Love
The line "We found love in a hopeless place" sort of sums up this book completely. Not a huge fan of the song, but it fits!
  3. Stephenie Meyer - Twilight
    Incubus - Echo
Read the lyrics to this song and tell me you can't make it fit with Twilight. It kills me to say because Incubus is my all-time favorite, but seriously. It works.
  4. Audrey Niffenegger - The Time Traveler's Wife
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
This song isn't necessarily about time travel, but it's about making sure it's all worth it. The characters in this book certainly need to feel that way to keep going. Great book.
  5. Mindi Scott - Freefall
    Matchbox Twenty - Long Day
Seth is definitely having some bad things going on, but this song is a good summary of his relationship with Kendall I think.
  6. Stephanie Perkins - Anna and the French Kiss
    Adele - Best For Last
Anna kind of goes through the wringer with her feelings for St. Clair. But she definitely wants him to say, "You're the one for me."
  7. Sara Shepard - Pretty Little Liars
    OneRepublic - Secrets
PLL is all about having secrets. This song is about sharing them all, which I wish they would have done sooner!! Haha.
  8. Ellen Hopkins - Crank
Linkin Park - Crawling In My Skin
Hopkins's books are all about sinking to rock bottom. That's what LP's song is about. They're uncomfortable with who they are and need a change.
  9. Kathryn Stockett - The Help
    Aretha Franklin - RESPECT
Since we all know what the song is about, I think we can all agree that it goes well with this book. That's all we all really want, isn't it? Plus it's just a fun song!!
  10. Emily Giffin - Something Borrowed
    Sugarland - Stay
This somber song fits the book perfectly with it being from the other woman's perspective. Rachel wants Dex, but he's with Darcy. Hmmm.. ;o)

I hope you've enjoyed my list! I had some help from my awesome friends because this was a hard list, and I wanted to make it great! Please share your list with me. I'd love to see if we thought the same way at all :o) Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. I have loved seeing all the picks for top ten today. Great choices! I skipped it this week because I couldn't think of any. I don't know why I had such a hard time with it.
