Shari Jones needs to get a life. Preferably someone else’s.

Single, homeless and jobless, Indo-American Shari agrees to her best friend’s whacky scheme: travel to Mumbai, pose as Amrita, and ditch the fiancé her traditional Indian parents have chosen. Simple. Until she’s mistaken for a famous Bollywood actress, stalked by a Lone Ranger wannabe, courted by an English lord, and busted by the blackmailing fiancé.

Life is less complicated in New York.

Or so she thinks, until the entourage of crazies follows her to the Big Apple and that’s when the fun really begins. Shari deals with a blossoming romance, an addiction to Indian food and her first movie role, while secretly craving another trip to the mystical land responsible for sparking her new lease on life. Returning to her Indian birthplace, she has an epiphany. Maybe the happily-ever-after of her dreams isn’t so far away?

Mickey: Hi there, Nicola Marsh! Welcome to the blog. Please introduce yourself.
Nicola: Hi Mickey, great to be here! I’m a busy mum who runs around all day before settling down to peace and quiet at night to write. I’ve always wanted to write but got sidetracked into the medical field. I worked as a physiotherapist for 13 years before finally putting pen to paper. Once I started writing, I couldn’t stop! I started writing in 2001, sold my first Harlequin novel in 2003. That book, featuring a speed-dating theme, hit shelves in 2004. I’ve published 30 novels with Harlequin Romance and Presents series, and BUSTED IN BOLLYWOOD is my first mainstream contemporary romance novel.

Mickey: Your novel, Busted in Bollywood, has received a lot of great ratings and reviews! Tell us a little bit about your book.
Nicola: BUSTED IN BOLLYWOOD is a mix of contemporary romance/women’s fiction/romantic comedy/chicklit. I think the blurb best sums it up! (See above)

Mickey: Since you started writing in 2001, you've published around 30 books and sold over 3 million copies. Where do you come up with all of your ideas?
Nicola: Most of my story ideas come to me in that hazy, pre-sleep phase…either a title or first line or character or situation will pop into my head and I brainstorm from there.
The idea for BUSTED IN BOLLYWOOD was inspired by the magic, mayhem and colour of Bollywood movies. My dad got me hooked on them one summer and I thought…’wouldn’t it be great to write a book with a Bollywood theme?’ So I did!

Mickey: Do you have any plans to write anything in another genre, such as fantasy or historical fiction?
Nicola: I’m currently writing supernatural/urban fantasy/paranormal YA and having a ball doing it. Refreshing to try something beyond romance.

Mickey: I'm a huge audio book fan. Are any of your books in audio book form? If you could choose any narrator for your books, who would you choose?
Nicola: Not that I know of…must check! If I could choose a narrator, it’d definitely be Sean Connery. Oh my, that voice…and it would guarantee millions of women would buy it!

Mickey: What are some of your favorite recent reads?
Nicola: Some of my faves in 2011 were How to Bake a Perfect Life by Barbara O’Neal, Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and The Goodbye Quilt by Susan Wiggs. I’m a sucker for a great romance.

Mickey: How did you get your original book idea that finally made you write that first chapter?
Nicola: I was working full time as a physiotherapist and between patients, picked up a copy of Vogue from the waiting room. Flicking through it, I spotted an article on speed dating and that sparked the idea for my first book.

Mickey: What's it like working with Entangled Publishing? They have a lot of fabulous authors on their team!
Nicola: Amazing! They are fantastic to work with: professional, transparent and striving to consistently produce quality books. I can’t speak highly enough of them.

Mickey: Have you always lived in Australia? I've never been there but I'd love to go one day!
Nicola: Yes, Australia is a fabulous country. Melbourne is so hip and cosmopolitan, with a café culture to die for!

Mickey: What book or idea do you wish you'd written or come up with first?
Nicola: Harry Potter, hands down. Or The Hunger Games…simply, wow!

Mickey: Thanks so much for being here today! Any final, parting thoughts?
Nicola: May the year ahead be filled with fabulous books!

USA TODAY bestselling Aussie author Nicola worked as a physiotherapist for thirteen years before she tired of saying "I'm going to write a book one day" and actually did it. She started writing late 2001 and found once she started she couldn't stop!

Nicola currently writes for Harlequin Mills and Boon Romance and Modern Heat/Presents series, has published 30 books and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

Nicola loves the hip, vibrant, cosmopolitan vibe of her home city, Melbourne, where she's set the bulk of her novels, highlighting fabulous cultural and food havens like Acland Street (St. Kilda), Brunswick Street (Fitzroy) and Lygon Street (Carlton).

When she's not writing she's busy raising her two little heroes, sharing fine food with family and friends, cheering on her beloved North Melbourne Kangaroos footy team or her favourite past time, curling up with a good book.
