What Say You Saturday - Blood Magic

(Picture - Credit to Ren)

Ren @ Ren's Rambles has created a weekly meme for bloggers. I think it's a fantastic way to get opinions on books you are on the fence about reading AND it's a great way to fangirl (or boy) about books you've read and really loved. Or didn't love. Either way! Want to play? Here are the rules:
  • Pick a book that's already been released (any genre is fine) that you've read and have a strong opinion about OR a book you are on the fence about reading & want more opinions on.
  • Create a post with the book's cover, title, and author, and explain your feelings for the book or why you aren't sure about reading it.
  • Include a link back to Ren's Rambles in each post.
  • Put your post up on Saturdays and link up in the linky at the bottom of the current What Say You Saturday post on Ren's Rambles. Link to the post itself, not just your blog.
  • You may use my What Say You image as long as you credit me for it or feel free to make your own.
  • Visit the other posts and give your opinion on their choices!
  • HAVE FUN!
Tessa Gratton - Blood Magic

• Pub. Date: May 2011
• Publisher: Random House Children's Books
• Format: Hardcover 416pp
• Age Range: Young Adult

It starts off simply.

Draw a circle ... place a dead leaf in the center ... sprinkle some salt ... recite a little Latin ... add a drop of blood ...

Maybe that last part isn't exactly simple. Yet somehow it feels right to Silla Kennicott. And nothing in her life has felt remotely right since her parents' horrific deaths. She's willing to do anything to uncover the truth about her family—even try a few spells from the mysterious book that arrived on her doorstep ... and spill some blood.

The book isn't the only recent arrival in Silla's life. There's Nick Pardee, the new guy next door who may have seen Silla casting a spell. She's not sure what he saw and is afraid to find out. But as they spend more time together, Silla realizes this may not be Nick's first encounter with Blood Magic. Brought together by a combination of fate and chemistry, Silla and Nick can't deny their attraction. And they can't ignore the dark presence lurking nearby—waiting to reclaim the book and all its power.

Tessa Gratton's intoxicating first novel will keep pulses racing, minds reeling, and pages turning right up to the very last drop of blood.

This one sounds good, and I've seen a few good reviews, but not enough to read it just yet. Other books always get in the way and push books like these down the list. I need some good reasons to read this one ahead of some other ones. Let me know what you thought of this one!! Thanks :o)

Happy Saturday!

  1. I really enjoyed this book. I admit though I read it when I wasn't super busy with other books. If I had been swamped with books I don't know if I would have read this right away. It's is a pretty fast read, and it's a good story though. I actually never reviewed this book because I couldn't find the right words to say what I wanted without giving too much away. There is love and mystery and action. I liked how the story unfolded and it kept my attention pretty well.
