Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this feature includes random weekly top tens. This week's list is - Top Ten Underrated Books (books you can't believe aren't more popular, books that are more obscure, etc). I didn't think I'd come up with ten, but I did. They're mostly adult, so if you aren't an adult-novel reader, these are good suggestions if you want to read some. :o)
- Richelle Mead - Succubus series
Everyone seems to have read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, except for me of course. But more people should be familiar with her adult work. I have yet to read the Eugenie series, but I will since I love Georgina so much. This is such a great one. It's emotional and amazing. I love it! - Charles Portis - True Grit
Everyone has seen at least one version of this movie, but who has really read this book? It's actually very similar to the newest movie adaptation, but the book is fascinating. I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't seen the movie first, but that's okay. - Cecelia Ahern - PS, I Love You
This is another book-to-movie where everyone saw the film. I read the book first, thankfully. I listened to it, actually, at work.. and I was sobbing the whole time! I freaking loved this book, and I felt like the movie trashed it a little. But it's such a great novel. I wish more people would read this one. - JA Konrath - Jack Daniels series
I wish these were more popular because they're pretty different and interesting. Yes, it's a Chicago detective solving homicides and such, but parts of these books are told from the killer's perspective. And they're funny!! Her name is Jack Daniels, so come on! lol - Christopher Moore - Love Story trilogy
This series includes Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, and Bite Me. They're adult vampire novels, but they're hysterically humorous. Abby Normal is a character I've talked about on the blog, and she's in this super funny series. It's a bit of a parody, and I LOVE it! - Steve Martin - Shopgirl
Wow, I loved this novel. I listened to it and it is read by the author, which is THE Steve Martin. I loved the eccentricities that each character had. I really enjoyed the emotion and progression of this book. Don't let a famous actor's name scare you. This is GOOD. - Meg Cabot - Queen of Babble series/Heather Wells series
Basically anything by Meg Cabot should be read and popular everywhere because I love her writing so much. Queen of Babble and Heather Wells are her adult trilogies. Her Boy Next Door series is very interesting as well, and I even enjoyed her Mediator (YA) series. She's just amazing. Princess Diaries has nothing on these other books! - Emily Giffin - Something Borrowed/Something Blue
They made this one into a movie, and I have my fingers permanently crossed for Something Blue, but the books are SO good! All of her books have been pretty fantastic, but I really enjoyed these two. I love how the author updates you on her characters in later books. Great stuff here. - Kieran Scott - He's So/She's So series
These books are addicting, funny, and full of YA drama. I love them. But when He's So Not Worth It came out a couple months ago, it wasn't even available at my local B&N store! I could order it online, but when a book isn't at a bookstore, the first one wasn't popular enough to warrant ordering physical copies of the second one. READ THIS SERIES! - KA Tucker - Anathema
It hasn't been out for long, but man this book is good!! My review is posted, and that basically says it all about this book. It's paranormal YA, but it's unique, creative, and awesome. Keeps you reading until the end! Loved this one!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!

I want to read the Richelle Mead - Succubus series
ReplyDeleteI agree with PS I Love You! It is one of my favorite books! It is so different from the movie, but I don't think people even realize it is a book!
ReplyDeleteOooh I've had the Succubus series & Jack Daniels series on my TBr forever!!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of some of these books, but I haven't read any of them. Some are on my TBR list, though. I'll have to look at the others too.
ReplyDeleteI have had Shopgirl on my shelves for YEARS and haven't read it yet. I definitely should get to it.
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed Shop Girl as well! It had some depth to it! Warning: the movie is absolutely terrible though! And Queen of Babble is one of my favourites! Nice picks! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Queen of Babble series. ^_^ A friend of mine read the Steve Martin book and raved about it, so I should probably go mark it down on my TBR list before I forget about it again. These are some great choices. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!! All of these books are definitely recommended. Succubus series is one of my all-time favorites!!! ;o) But I've enjoyed all of these, so I hope you all do too!!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Steve Martin's books. I've heard good things. Especially about his newest one.
