"Waiting on " Wednesday - Flash and Bone

Hosted by Breaking The Spine, this section will feature future upcoming releases that I personally am excited about. These will generally be coming up later in the year. Let me know what you're looking forward to, or even what you're writing, and maybe I'll feature it here as well.

Kathy Reichs’s trademark blend of forensic descriptions that “chill to the bone” ( Entertainment Weekly ) and breathless suspense have made her books major bestsellers worldwide. Now, she delivers the fourteenth thriller in a “cleverly plotted and expertly maintained series” ( The New York Times Book Review ).

A body is found in a barrel of asphalt next to Lowes Motor Speedway near Charlotte just as 200,000 fans are pouring into town for race week. The next day, a NASCAR crew member shares with Tempe a devastating story. Twelve years earlier his sister, Cyndi Gamble, then a high school senior who wanted to be a professional racecar driver, disappeared along with her boyfriend, Cale Lovette. Lovette kept company with a group of right wing extremists known as the Patriot Posse. Is the body Cyndi’s? Or Cale’s?

At the time of their disappearance, the FBI joined the investigation, but the search was quickly terminated. As Tempe is considering multiple theories, including an FBI cover-up, a surprising, secret substance is found with the body, leaving Tempe to wonder what exactly the government was up to. . . .

Five reasons why I cannot wait for this to come out:
  1. I've read all the other Tempe novels.
  2. I met this author (and her son during the Virals tour) and will read almost anything she writes.
  3. I am really invested in Tempe's story, and this one sounds interesting!
  4. I love the science behind these novels.
  5. I also appreciate that Reichs really was a forensic anthropologist and she writes from what she knows.
I've been reading this series for years now, and I've come to love Tempe and her family and friends. I might have to recap on the last one before I read this one because I am notorious for forgetting everything I've read after a while! Oy. Anyway, if you're a fan of this series, I hope you enjoy this one! I know I will :o)

  3. While I love the show, love forensic anthropology and love Virals, I couldn't get into this series. I've only read the first one. Though I can see how others would love this series and why it does so well. Glad you are enjoying it!
