This week we read chapters 1-5 in Twilight for the re-read along! Lisa's blog posted the questions for this week, and the discussion and answers are posted on The Reading Housewives' blog today. Here's what I have to say!
1. Because we have to talk about it sometime - are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Does that impact how you re-read the book?
I am Team Edward all the way. I just remembered how YOUNG Jacob is at the beginning of this series! Doesn't matter, though. I was always Team Edward. And it may impact how I reread the book only because it makes me so giddy inside ;o)
2. Bella spends a lot of her time by herself in her room when she's not at school. What do you think this says about her as a character? Can you relate to her introverted nature?
She's a loner, and that's okay. I definitely relate. I have no problem being at home alone, doing my own thing. I thrive on it, really. It's enjoyable to me because I don't like a scene or a crowd all the time. I like to do whatever I want to do, and usually by myself or with my boyfriend. That's fine by me.
3. Probably my favorite chapter of the entire book, chapter eight brings us dress shopping, nearly getting assaulted, and then wraps up nicely with a quaint dinner and confession time. In this we see the blend of typical teenage existence starting to get tainted by the paranormal world. If given the choice right then, would you push to know more about the paranormal, or bury your head in the sand and live the teenage dream?
I think it would be so weird to find out that paranormal actually exists! I think I would definitely have to know more. And yes, I think this chapter is probably one of my favorites! I always thought the dinner scene was my favorite, but when I just reread it, I wasn't nearly as impressed as before. Oh well :o)
4. Already, it's pretty clear that Bella is falling for Edward. Is this happening too quickly to be plausible, or is it totally reasonable to you? What about Edward do you find to be swoonworthy at this point?
It's slightly unreasonable if you don't know all the details yet. It's very quick, but there are supernatural forces at work here. Since this isn't a normal teen story, I guess it makes it more acceptable. Edward is almost a jerk, so I don't know why he's so swoonworthy yet, except that he rescues her from attackers and takes care of her at dinner. Then he shows up at her house to take her to school.. he's just becoming always there!
5. Jessica has to forcibly remove all of the details on what's going on from Bella, but through that we learn more about how she's feeling and how she's falling for Edward already. If you were in Jessica's shoes, what would you say to Bella?
Yikes. I don't know what there is to say. Jessica tells her that she is intimidated by him, and I probably would be too if I were Jessica. They're a strange family on the outside. So she kind of says it all, but I would probably tell her to be careful, even if it falls on deaf ears. Tough question!
So leave your links in a comment if you're participating so I can see your answers! Chapters 11-15 are due next week, so come back and check it out! Thanks.
I forgot that Jacob's 2 years younger than Bella. He seems more like a kid than an love interest in the books. In the movies though, it's a different story. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think you weren't as impressed with the dinner scene? It's still one of my favorites, especially from Edward's POV. Do you know what your favorite part is now?
ReplyDeleteYay team Edward!!!
ReplyDeleteYa Jacob is alot younger then her and since guys never grow up you almost need to get involed with a vampire that is tons of years old so they are mature....lol
Great answers, my were very similar.
Could you imagine if the Cullens actually existed?!!? All of us would be knocking down their door! Haha.
ReplyDeleteYay Team Edward! haha I felt the same way about re-reading the dinner scene. Going back there again didn't quite have the same impact it gave me the first time around. Probably because I knew what happened next.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Im team Eddie too...I like older men..:0
ReplyDeletei hear you on the loner piece. just fine with me!
