Here's how this works: It's a weekly feature hosted by The Story Siren where we all post what new books we received in the mail, from the library, or contests we won, etc. Click the link for more info and to join in on the fun!
Before I get into how awesome this week was, let me mention something I forgot from last week!! I totally didn't put up my picture of one of my favorite things I've received in the mail since I started book blogging.. here's the picture:
I got this bad boy from Nerissa @ In The Name Of Books! She and I were exchanging recommendations when we both mentioned the Succubus series by Richelle Mead. I told her how excited I am for the final book of the series, and this lovely lady got me my very own copy from ALA and mailed it to me. Is that not the coolest thing EVER??? Oh my goodness. SOO sweet!! I was ecstatic. Now please explain why I haven't devoured it yet.. lol. THANK YOU!!
Okay.. on to this awesome week. Monday night, my awesome bookie friend Audra and I went over to the Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale, AZ, and we got to meet Diana Gabaldon at a signing for her 20th anniversary edition of Outlander! Can I please tell you that I have not read a single one of these books, but by the time I left this signing, I wanted to immediately go home and inhale them all! So here are some pictures from the awesomeness that was Monday evening's Diana Gabaldon signing:
She came out and spoke to the audience for quite a while. She is hysterically funny and friendly, and she told some really great, fascinating, and hilarious stories! I should have taken a picture of the whole room because it was packed!!
I was number 38 but it was well worth it! Here she is signing my book.
Then she was kind enough to take a picture with me :o)
Here is Audra with Ms. Gabaldon too!

We had a fabulous night! I am so glad I bought a copy of this book because it is gorgeous and beautiful and amazing.. so much so that I do not want to even open this thing!! Please take a look and tell me that you wouldn't want to just display this work of perfection in your living room:
Ahhhh!! I hear angels singing Halleluiah in a chorus when I look at this book. Seriously. It's way too pretty and hardcover to break the spine open. No way. I'll get this one on audio book perhaps. Oh wait.. here's the best part:

Moving on!! Yesterday Audra and I had the chance to attend another author signing! This time we went to Changing Hands in Tempe, AZ, and we got to listen to some fabulous and funny stories from JA Jance. Man, she was very fun and she even brought a special guest:
Oh my goodness, she brought her dog!! This is the cutest little Dachshund named Bella, and she comes with a magnificent story. Click on that picture to make it bigger if you can't see the little pup. She's just too cute, and she was so well-behaved!
Here is JA Jance telling us about the books she writes. She goes by JA Jance to be gender neutral, since she's a woman writing from a male POV. Smart thinking!
Book signing time! Here she is signing Audra's father's novel. Audra is going to male them to her dad as a huge surprise!!
Audra loves this picture, so I get to post this one too.
Audra and JA Jance!
Finally, here I am with JA Jance. She pulled out her red sharpie just for me!
She signed my Nook cover as you can see in the next picture.
Sorry that it's angled like that. I'm beyond tired and have no desire to fix it :o)
After two really fun author signings, Audra and I just want to say THANK YOU so much to these lovely ladies who appreciate their fans enough to come sign EVERY book (and nook cover) we bring to these events. You are both so awesome!!
As for everything else I got in my mailbox, here it goes:

Old Follower :)
You are so lucky to get a copy of Wildfire. I want to read that one so badly!
ReplyDeleteI love author signings! I wish my bookstore here would host them. =/ I guess that makes you double lucky!
That copy of Outlander is gorgeous - I'm jealous! And I can't believe that book is 20 years old!! I only found it a few years ago, but I loved it - oh, Jamie...glad you got to go to so many author events. That's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!! Arizona is very lucky to have those two book stores. Authors love to come to them, so we get some fantastic events here! I certainly don't take that for granted, so I like to go to as many as I can :o)
ReplyDeleteAuthor signings are a lot of fun! Love the photos. We do have signings at our local bookstores, but so far, no big names.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest author signing moments were at BEA in 2008, when I was also signing one of my books.
Here's MY SUNDAY SALON POST
Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see Wildfire on the S&S Galley Grab newsletter. Where is it located? It probably doesn't matter too much since my Adobe Digital Editions is being a spaz and won't work.
