Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this feature includes random weekly top tens. This week's list is - Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Book Blogger/A Bookish Person! If I only give you 10, consider yourself lucky.. I love doing this!!
mostly in no particular order..
- First and foremost, I love reading because it's like a mini vacation. It takes you away from your own life and creates this whole other world! Things that can never happen in real life can happen in books. Anything goes! I love that!
- I've learned that bloggers get free books, advanced copies, and swag for reviewing books! This is amazing and I am so grateful and thankful for authors and places like NetGalley and GalleyGrab. It makes being a blogger affordable and awesome.
- I get to have cute bookmarks as business cards! (I have yet to hand one out, but I'm still obsessed with them - see below)
- I love how friendly everyone in the book blogging community is! All the giveaways, the help with questions about anything, and just the support in general has been amazing. I'm still new at this whole thing, but everyone has been awesome!
- Twitter is great for book bloggers because it gets you in touch with authors, publishers, and narrators (I love audio books!!) in ways you couldn't before. I absolutely love this part! They tweet so you can get inside scoop and such. Or they just say silly things that make you love them more (see @maureenjohnson)
- Authors do interviews with book bloggers! I had no idea. So fantastic! I finally did my first one, and you can check it out here! (HINT - there's a giveaway, too!!)
- The memes are so fun to participate in! They help me find new and exciting books to read with recommendations through memes such as Waiting on Wednesday and Teaser Tuesday (besides Top Ten Tuesday of course!).
- My book blog allows me to post creatively and freely. My reviews are honest (and hopefully helpful for people looking for a new book to read), the memes are fun, and I get to express what I feel about books in a safe space.
- I find out so much more about the book world now that I'm a book blogger. Be it from other blogs, Twitter, Facebook, whatever.. it's great to find out about local signings, blog tours, giveaways, etc because I'm part of this great community of book bloggers.
- Finally, I feel like books help and may change people's lives. If a review I wrote made someone read a book that helped them in any way, my job is complete, and that author helped me. I just love books, and they can really have a profound effect. So thank you to all the awesome authors, publishers, bloggers, narrators, etc etc.. everyone in the book world. Thank you!!
And happy blogoversary to The Broke and The Bookish!!!
