Current/most recent audio book: Current - Josephine Angelini's Starcrossed. Other recent audio books: Cassandra Clare - City of Bones, Veronica Roth - Divergent, Jennifer Donnelly - Revolution, Ally Condie - Matched, and K.J. Larsen - Liar, Liar
Impressions: I need to get better at adding more about the narration and audio production when writing reviews of books, but for Starcrossed, I'm not a fan of this narrator at all (Devon Sorvari). She read the Vampire Kisses series, too, and I ended up giving up on that series. I didn't like the stories either, but her voice just doesn't do it for me.
Current favorite audio book: Hmm. I have so many to choose! So far this year, my favorite book is one I've listened to. So in terms of favorite book I listened to, I'd say Jodi Picoult - Sing You Home. If we're saying favorite audio book production/favorite narration of audio books, I'll say the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Tavia Gilbert is amazing.
One narrator who always makes you choose audio over print: I don't know if I can pick just one! I mentioned Tavia Gilbert. I wouldn't go to reading those books as long as she reads them. And I've listened to books just because she reads them. I've done the same with Phil Gigante as well! Tough question, but I'll go with those two.
Genre you most often choose to listen to: Paranormal anything/Urban Fantasy. I'm not a fan yet of reading print novels with supernatural stuff in it. I did read the Twilight series, but that was easy to follow. I also just read Daimon and Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and those worked for me! So maybe I'm on to something. Either way, I just like to listen to everything, period.
If given the choice, you will always choose audio when: the narrator is someone I really enjoy.
If given the choice, you will always choose print when: it's an author I normally read rather than listen to, or when I'm in the middle of a series I've been reading print.
Yay for audio book week! This has been so much fun, and I have two more posts in store!! I wish I would have known sooner so I could have put some reviews together, but I should have one by Friday! Hope everyone is having a great week. Happy listening!!
One of my favorites is a Jodi Picoult, too - House Rules was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMy mid-week meme can be found here.
Oh, what did you think of REVOLUTION and MATCHED? I'm reviewing them both this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin, I got back to you on your blog :o)
ReplyDeleteJen - Click the links, and it will take you to my reviews on Goodreads. I liked Revolution more then Matched, but I wasn't super impressed by either, really. I think I need to read an adult book ASAP, then get back to YA.. lol.
I have an audiobook narrated by Tavia Gilbert. She is a new to me reader. Looking forward to it now.
ReplyDeleteNise'
Which book, Nise'?? I'd love to listen if I haven't already :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the Starcrossed audio. What did you think of Revolution? I have to read that for one of my committees and am seriously thinking about picking up the audio for it. Great post and thanks for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteI definitely enjoyed the audio of Revolution more than I think I would have liked it in print. Let me know if you get to it! And if you click the link of Revolution, it will take you to my review on goodreads :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Jodi Picoult's books are great as audios. I'm adding Sing You Home to my list!
ReplyDeleteWow! You have a great current list of audiobooks! Are you a member of audible.com? I just looked Starcrossed on my library's online search and they don't have a copy yet. I really want to read/listen to Starcrossed, Matched, and Revolution. I'm really had fun with audiobook week! Happy listening :). Here’s my meme post. ~ Jen @ A Book and a Latte
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, I hope you enjoy Sing You Home!! :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen. I responded on your blog!
Love the answers - I think I am a little like your last answer..
ReplyDeleteJuliett Marillier is just an author I love in print...
Good to know I am not the only one..
:)
I can't switch from reading a series in print to doing the audio either.
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about REVOLUTION on audio. I read it in print and enjoyed it a lot. I will have to check out Tavia Gilbert as a narrator!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the comments!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, definitely try out Tavia Gilbert :o)
