"Waiting on" Wednesday - Kimberly Derting's The Pledge

Hosted by Breaking The Spine, this section will feature future upcoming releases that I personally am excited about. These will generally be coming up later in the year. Let me know what you're looking forward to, or even what you're writing, and maybe I'll feature it here as well.

Goodreads description:
Words are the most dangerous weapon of all.

In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she’s spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It's there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she's never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed.

Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can’t be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country’s only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime.

Five reasons why I cannot wait for this to come out:
01. I've read The Body Finder series, and I love it!
02. This one seems much different than The Body Finder, and I'm looking forward to something different from this author.
03. I love stories from a first-person point-of-view!
04. The summary, which I do not normally read, sounds fantastic. Even if this wasn't Derting, I would still want to read it.
05. YA and I get along pretty well. I'm excited to expand in that genre.

Like I said, this sounds MUCH different from her Body Finder series. I love that series, but I am excited to read something unlike anything I've read from her to date. I haven't read many dystopian novels, and I would like to start reading more in this genre as well. This doesn't come out until November, so it will be a while before we know. Maybe I can score an early copy. I can barely wait!
