Top Ten Tuesday- Recommended Books

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this feature includes random weekly top tens. The topics are predetermined by their site, and I'm thinking this may replace Teen Tuesday when I have nothing for it or less time to work on the blog. I LOVE lists!!

Books I’m So Happy Were Recommended To Me:

in no particular order..
01. Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice
-Recommended by: Mr. Brown, AP English IV teacher
The love story of all love stories, this one. Man oh man. I had to read this for English class, and I'm not good with being told what to read. At least for a grade in school. This one changed that forever. Thank you, Mr. Brown. Thank you forever.

02. Janet Evanovich - Stephanie Plum series
-Recommended by: Random ladies at the bookstore and Cat Simmons, former coworker/friend
I've listened to all of these, but I will say it was a tough start. It took 5 tries on the first disc of the first book to actually get into this series, and I haven't looked back. Lula has turned into a favorite, Grandma Mazur is always hilarious, and Stephanie.. may she never have to choose between Ranger and Morelli!

03. Charlaine Harris - Sookie Stackhouse series
-Recommended by: Deanna Connelly, coworker
Deanna let me borrow the first one in this series, Dead Until Dark. I read it and new I had to continue the series. I listened to the rest of them once I found them on audio and continue to listen to them today! Number 11 came out today, and I am super excited! Thanks!

04. Stephenie Meyer - Twilight series
-Recommended by: Many people! But specifically, Jaime Black and Laura Brown, former coworkers/friends
I tried to resist. Really, I did. Jaime recommended this one to me back when Breaking Dawn came out in 2008. I didn't get around to reading this series until the end of 2009 when I moved to AZ and had Laura tell me I had to read this! Everyone was crazy about it, so I went for it and understood. Thank you, ladies! :o)

05. Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress series
-Recommended by: Audra Lancaster, coworker/friend
This one is SO fun! Cat and Bones are seriously the best. Reading these ones gives me mental images of awesome cartoons kicking crazy butt. Cat has evolved, and Bones is really clever and sexy. This is a fantastic series if you like paranormal, steamy romance with lots of action.

06. Karen Marie Moning - Fever series
-Recommended by: Audra Lancaster, coworker/friend
Wow, what can I say? This series just "wrapped up" and I fell in love from the beginning. Jericho and Mac are a great pair. I really hope this last book wasn't the last we hear about these characters! Dani was one of my favorites. :o)

07. Sherman Alexie - The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
-Recommended by: Jill Draffkorn, college friend and former roommate
Jill recommended this to me when I was looking to put myself over the 200 books read mark last year. It was something short and simple, but it was extremely enjoyable. It was funny, depressing, and hopeful. I may have learned some things as well. Great recommendation!

08. James Patterson (and friends) - Women’s Murder Club series
-Recommended by: Edie Portnoy, college friend
Wow. I wasn't completely impressed by the first novel, but I've read every one since, and one comes out today! I can't wait to read it, because this series really has me invested. Thanks, Edie!

09. Jessica Valenti - He's a Stud, She's a Slut
-Recommended by: Jill Draffkorn and Nicole Shemezis, college friends
This one really shed some light on things I kind of took at face value for a while. I've now discovered the slight feminist in myself and see where I can make changes in my own life. I can encourage people to be more fair when it comes to differences in sexes and how we're used in media, etc. Thanks, Jill and Nicole!

10. Jodi Picoult - The Pact
-Recommended by: Stephanie Abate, friend and former roommate
I never wrote a review for this one because it was before the time of Goodreads, but I read it fast and loved it the whole time. From the very beginning was I sucked in and gripped by the drama, the court battle, and the family tragedy. Thank goodness she recommended this because I have been reading Picoult's novels ever since!
