Who are you, and how do you Armchair?

I am participating in Armchair BEA from Surprise, Arizona. It's sunny, hot, and dry here! But that doesn't mean we don't enjoy books in these parts. In fact, we're very big on libraries out here, so we must have readers! I have two different library cards that allow usage at a combined 35 library branches and digital libraries. Some famous authors live here in the valley too! Anyway, back to Armchair BEA - I'm hoping for a lot of things I guess: more followers, more cool blogs to follow, new friendships, and new books to add to my constantly-growing TBR list!! I plan to post every day on whatever topic I can, plus my usual daily features. I'm late on this, like I said, so I didn't get to sign up for all the different posts each day, but I'll do something else to make it work. Hope you all enjoy my blog and Armchair BEA!
About the blog:
This is my blog, first and foremost. I put up reviews and daily features that I find interesting. I'm always asking for feedback, though. I'll post anything that my followers wish to read as well. I just enjoy blogging! I had no idea either. I started this blog last month with the intention of doing something different for each week day. It's already evolved as I've found more memes to post, different daily features that work and don't work, etc etc. I honestly don't stick with a particular genre. I love just about everything. Reading is fun for me, and I like to try out new things. I enjoy YA, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, general fiction, crime/mystery/thriller, self-help, bio/memoirs, etc. I like everything just about. Although I'm seeing this Steampunk thing and not sure what it is. I've been meaning to Google it, but if anyone wants to explain that would be great :o)
Anyway, you can find out more about me on my About Me page. All sorts of likes and dislikes are up there. You can also check out my Schedule page to see which daily features I am currently posting on a regular basis. If you have any memes you host or post or other suggestions, I would love to hear them! I do keep track of all the books I've read this year (I just hit 100), so you can check that out as well. I post on Goodreads, Twitter, and Facebook. I'm on Networked Blogs and Book Blogs as well. I'm friendly, so come find me and we can chat!

Hi! It looks like we have a lot of books in common... I'm finding so many great blogs today!
ReplyDeleteOh great! I can't wait to get home from work and check it all out. I will stop by your blog today too! Thanks :o)
ReplyDeleteWow! You hit 100 books already this year?!! That's amazing :)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you. My parents live 1/2 the year near Surprise (in SCW) so I try to visit each winter. You live in a beautiful state!
Nice to meet you :)
Welcome to BEA! Another Arizona girl! I'm from Ahwatukee, but live in Minnesota. I hope your surgery goes well.
ReplyDeleteI'll read just about anything too. Welcome to Armchair BEA! Good luck with your surgery Friday.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you. Fellow participant here. You seem to be a very busy person. I'm sure armchair BEA will be a fun alternative to the real thing.
ReplyDeleteHurray, a new-ish blogger! Nice to meet you. I'm Judith and I've been blogging for aboout a year. I don't read as much as you, I get trough about 170 books per year.
ReplyDeleteHave fun during BEA and good luck with the surgery.
Hi, Mickey ~ Love your blog! I'm also a paranormal romance fan. Good luck with surgery Friday. I'm looking forward to watching your posts throughout the week and after.

Wow, my goal for the year is 100 and I'm just over halfway there. Good for you! I hope your surgery goes well. I'm looking forward to reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteMy dad lives in Surprise! :) I fell in love with blogging as well, which surprised me because I was very nervous at first!
ReplyDeleteArmchair BEA: About Us!
Hi Mickey, I love Arizona and have often thought about retiring to that warm climate. Unlike you I stay with YA as a genre mainly because of my students. Whatever books I buy, I bring to my classroom to share. I also love blogging. I have been by your blog before and am very happy to get to know more about you!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Welcome to the book blogging world!! Go you with your Black Belt!!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to meet you! If you get a chance, stop by and Meet Me Here
Mickey:
ReplyDeleteI totally get the cotton ball thing! I'm that way with damp cardboard. I'm shivering in disgust just typing about it!!
Kudos to you on reading so much. I'm having trouble finding time to finish a book every week. You're an inspiration.
:) Heidi
THere is so much to do in blogging. I try to keep a set schedule, but it doesn't always go as plan because something will peak my interest and then I'll make a detour. Nice to meet you, found you through BEA. Hope to stay connected.
ReplyDeleteI ask this of everyone who says they enjoy reading everything or just about everything....do you read poetry? do you review it? If you check out my blog this week, you'll see I love it and want to get others to dip their toes in the genre with some of the great contemporary poets out there.
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet another new-to-me blogger and I can't wait to see what else this week in Armchair BEA brings.
100 books already?!!!!!!!!! That is incredible. I'm aiming to get that done (with a few extra) in a year. I am in awe! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you have to have surgery. Looks like we might like some of the same books. I look forward to getting to know you and your blog this week.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! I;m impressed with all the work you out into it. Let me know if you are still interested in being interview partners.
ReplyDeleteMy dad lives in Surprise:)
ReplyDeleteLike you I read just about everything, but try to stick to non-fiction with a smattering of mystery/suspense on my blog.
Steampunk, I LOVE steampunk. From my experience, it is like Victorian Lit on steroids. When you think about it, the Victorian Era was an age of invention. Steampunk brings in all of the crazy gadgets and inventions as if they really worked. There is hot air balloon travel, robot waiters, cool weapons that are discreetly hidden in dinner jackets, etc. My mind is drawing a blank of some of the books I have read, sorry.
Holy cow. You are so inspiring. I wish I could read that much ;)
ReplyDeleteMy sister lived in Surprise for a few years, its a beautiful community :) I am loving your blog and I'm your newest follower!

I am blogging from the valley too! I live in Phoenix. I am a newbie to the area so I haven't really adjusted to the dryness or how bright the sun is here. I am used to humidity and big shade trees. I hope you have a fun week armchair-ing. :)

Nice meeting you, Mickey! Hopefully next year we can all make it to the real deal!

ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Mickey...hope the surgery goes well. Glad you found out about BEA...it really is something!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog title! 100 books already? My goal is 120! Haha, but I'm getting close. I think I've read 61 so far.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to meet you! btw, I love Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks too! I've met Nicholas twice and going for a third in October...the plus side of living in NC. :)
100 books AND 100 followers!! Thanks everyone!!! I'm going to get back to you all on your individual blogs :o)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I managed to find everyone's blog, so just a general thanks to everyone for the well wishes! AND a special thanks to Gwen for describing steampunk to me.. lol. Thank you everyone!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm working on reading 111 books this year. I'm new to blogging too, but I love checking out new blogs and seeing what everyone else is reading (and what else they're up to!)
ReplyDeleteI love the name of your blog. I've done a lot of traveling throughout Arizona but I've never been to Surprise.
ReplyDeleteUnless I'm ill or traveling (and don't have access to the internet), I post a review each and every day. Come learn more about me and my blog.
